Dispose of waste in an environmentally-friendly waste bag or flush.
Transition Instructions
Fill the empty litter box with 2 inches of ökocat and pour only 1 inch of your existing litter on top. Let your cat mix the litters as they are used.
When it’s time to clean the box entirely, continue to fill with more ökocat and less of the old litter until your cat has adjusted to the change.
When your cat is used to the new litter dispose of your old litter appropriately, or donate it to a local shelter.

Yes, this product is much more expensive than the traditional clump cat litter. I have been using for 15 years. My cat, Chester, is prone to respiratory infections and has been treated with numerous shots and oral antibiotics since he was a kitten. Ever since I started using this product, he has not had drippy eyes, congestion or sneezing. When he pees, the urine will spread out slightly, but stay in one section of his litter box. I cover it with litter and need to scoop significantly to get all of the urine out of his box. When he poops, it is adequately covered to easily scoop out. If you shake the pooper scooper back-and-forth, the unused product will easily fall back into the litter box for future use. This is important so you don’t waste the product. Make sure that you scrape all of the urine out of the box. This is readily easy to do. If you do not scrape it all out it does harden and I am unable to remove it without soaking with water. This happened only once because I have since learned this necessary step. The product is excellent. There is zero dust.
I am a repeat buyer. I believe it is more eco friendly and better for my cat. Downside is not quite as good at odor prevention as regular, less eco friendly, litters.
It doesn't trap odor
I would not say this is "unscented" as it has a really odd scent in general. It also does nothing for odor control of urine. It absorbs since it's paper pellets but offers no protection against scent. It also recommends it can last 1 and a half moths, however, but after just a few uses I could not stand the scent. I like that they took a natural approach, but the lack of odor control is very off putting.
Great litter.
